Sundown

Action packed!  Strong characters that bring you to the edge of your seat!

Tae felt that the whole world's existence rested on her shoulders.  Colt felt that his worth was based on how dangerous was the mission.  Both had much to learn after combining their efforts to fight the enemy.

I enjoyed the book and reading how the family pulled together to keep each other safe.  This is the 3rd book of the Sky King Ranch Series.  All three books were enjoyable, fast-paced and page turners.

I received this ebook from Revell to review.

Targeted

A book that is made up of three romantic suspense novellas that are fast-paced and exciting.

On The Run by Lynette Eason-

The first story is about a woman named Daria.  She is very intelligent and has superb computer skills.  Oh yeah, she's also a FBI agent.  This  and her father's past criminal life puts her in a very dangerous situation.  She is targeted.  Along the way, she meets a doctor that is determined to keep her safe.

Deadly Objective by Lynn H. Blackburn-

Emily Dixon was a physical therapist that landed up assigned to treat the Vice President's son, Mason.  This assignment proved to be quite dangerous.  Liam Harper was a FBI  Agent assigned to protect Mason.    The two were soon on a mission to save not only Mason but themselves.  A little romance thrown in makes one exciting read.

Caught in the Crosshairs by Natalie Walters-

Claudia is one tough CIA Agent.  Smart, confident and beautiful.  Ari, a former Army PSYOPS officer couldn't let that distract him in finding out who killed the Saudi Prince.  Claudia is at risk and Ari was determined to keep her safe.

All three stories were interesting and just what I needed to read.  All the characters were exciting to read and likeable.

I received this ebook from Revell to review.

Honor's Refuge

Our past shapes our future: good or bad.  Melissa came from a violent household.  She decided to give back by opening a domestic violence shelter.   Phil experienced a loss while serving his country.  He questioned his worth and value.

Melissa is determined to help her community in any way she can.  She is strong and focused on her goals.  Phil is not sure what direction he is headed.  Is there any possibility of them being a couple?

I really liked Melissa.  She has a heart of gold.  Phil is stronger than he thinks but it takes time for him to realize his potential.

A good story. Highly recommend it!

Rescuing Rose

A Historical buff like me was eager to start this story.  The cover alone got my attention.  Rose and her sister were on their own.  Life was hard but they never could imagine what layed ahead.

I wasn't aware that women from the South were transferred to the North during the Civil War.  Their men fighting who knows where and they are sent away.  How would their loved ones know where they went?  What other struggles would they encounter as they were forced to make new lives so far from home?

This was a page turner.  I enjoyed every moment reading this story.  The characters were written well.  How can you not love Rose and Captain Noah?

I received this book to review from the author.

The Christmas Spirit

Every Christmas Debbie Macomber writes a holiday story.  This story centers on 2 friends who change places right before Christmas.  Hank and Pete have totally different occupations.  Hank is a bartender and Pete is a pastor.  Both men have important roles to play in sharing God's love and wisdom.

I read this in October but this story is great for anytime of the year. Christmas love and spirit can be year round.

Macomber’s novels have spent over 1,000 weeks on the New York Times bestseller list. Fifteen of these novels hit the number one spot.

Samantha Price- A Deadly Amish Betrayal

A mystery to be solved.  Sisters, Ettie and Elsa-May, are on the case.  A murder victim was found almost at their front door.  Who is it?  Who could have done this?

They make me think of the sisters in The Waltons. They sometimes get on each other's nerves but they would be lost without each other.

They have special skills to solve the crimes in their area.  Detective Kelly recognizes this and he appreciates their talent. He sometimes acts like he is annoyed but without them many crimes would be unsolved.

I loved this cute story.  I enjoyed the banter between sisters.  They are a special pair.

I received this ebook from the author to review.

The Hat Girl's Heartbreak

66

My maternal grandmother worked at a hat factory in Luton, England many years ago.  I was never told to much about her experiences there.  I always wondered about it. So naturally I was curious and interested in reading this book.

I read the 1st book by Lindsey Hutchinson.  I enjoyed it so much that when I saw the next one I had to read it.  I enjoyed it just as much but probably more.

Each character was written with love.  You really got to know them and care for them.  You understood where they came from.

The main character, Ella, shares her grief and her happiness with us.  She has a giving heart and touches everyone she meets (as well as the readers) with it.  All except Darcie Newland.

I highly recommend this book as well as the first book of the series.

I received this book from Boldwood Books to give a review.

The Hat Girl's Heartbreak

Will it be tears or triumph for the Hat Girl from Silver Street?

It’s been five years since Ella Bancroft lost the love of her life, Harper Fortescue, and despite her friends’ encouragement, she’s still not been able to move on. The one thing keeping Ella smiling is the success of her hat shop, Ivella.  Her beautiful designs and fabulous creations are the first choice for the fashionable Edwardian ladies of Walsall, and her fame is spreading far and wide.

Darcie Newland won’t ever forgive Ella for stealing her fiancé and ruining her life, even though Harper was never really hers in his heart.  After being exiled by her parents to Scotland after yet another scandal, Darcie is now back in Birmingham and set on revenge.

As her hat shop flourishes, and the possibility of a new love appears when she least expects it, Ella finally dares to hope for a happy future. But storm clouds are gathering over the Black Country, and life might have other plans for the hat girl from Silver Street.

The Queen of the Black Country sagas is back with this page-turning story of friendship and fun, love and second chances. Perfect for fans of Val Wood and Lyn Andrews.

Anything But Plain

Lydie felt she didn't belong.  She was told that she was different. But she learned later that being different is ok.

Lydie and Nathan were trying to find their way.  Both were not sure if staying in Stoney Ridge was possible.  Both lacked confidence.

It only takes one kind word to change your outlook.  A pat on a back or an acknowledgement can change your life.  Lydie was lucky to have her Aunt.   She made a difference.  Nathan had the support of the community.

I received this book from Celebrate Lit to review.

I enjoyed revisiting some characters from earlier books.  This book was ANYTHING BUT PLAIN.

Jeremiah 1:4-5 “Now the word of the Lord came to me, saying, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.”

About the Book

Book: Anything But Plain

Author: Suzanne Woods Fisher

Genre: Amish fiction

Release date: October 4, 2022

It’s not easy being the bishop’s daughter, especially for Lydie Stoltzfus. She’s not like other Amish girls, as much as she wishes she were. The only thing she does well is disappoint others. Leaving her family and church seems unbearable, but staying might be worse.

Knowing Lydie is “between” jobs, the local doctor asks her to fill in at the front desk for a few months. To Lydie, this is a boon. It gives her time to figure out how she’s going to say goodbye to her neighbor, Nathan Yoder–the main reason she needs to leave Stoney Ridge. Nathan claims he’s in love with her, but she knows she’s not good enough for him. If in doubt, Nathan’s father reminds her frequently.

As Dok spends time with Lydie, she recognizes symptoms of an uncommon disorder among the Amish. She offers treatment for Lydie. But will it be enough to make her stay? Or has help come too late?

So…I wanted to pass these tips along to you. (If you have little children, these might not work for you. Not when your little ones are awake, anyway.) Hopefully, you’ll find them to be useful, and maybe spark some strategies of your own.

Body of Evidence

Grace thought she was safe especially in rural Missouri.  But she was wrong.  Nate thought he could protect her.  Was he wrong?

I picked up this ebook and read it in one night.  I loved the characters.  I knew them from reading an earlier book in the series called The Code of Honor.  This Book Three.

A mystery that is bound to surprise you at the end.  I was.  I won't give it away.  You have to pick this up.  Entertaining.

I received this from netgalley to review.

I smiled and asked her mom to leave the room. (What was said in that room, we will never tell)Todd, who sat at my desk and reviewed EYM’s online programming, discovered flaws, said “Don’t cry, Ms. Echols, I can fix this,” and built EYM’s online interactive platform, Access/No Excuse (ANE).Adam, who built the teacher/student online tutorial component of (ANE) while attending Cal Tech and teaching at EYM part-time.Ashley, whogave me a hug and said, “Take my credit card and get what you need for EYM. BOOK EXCERPT

The Me I See In You Excerpt 6

Some came with attitudes and complaints because they did not want to come until it was time for their child to go home, others came with a hug, patience and a thank you. But everyone came with a meal and waited in their cars. Eventually, everyone learned to come with patience, grace, and love, determined to see their child succeed, and when they did, word spread. EYM continued to grow by word of mouth. Mentored, and disciplined academically and emotionally, students were taught to respect themselves and one another. The expensive rent in Korea Town was challenging but it was a safe place for my students. Eventually we realized no one wanted us there. The rent continued to increase for EYM as other tenants entered the building paying much less.

Again, my faith anchored in prayer, with grace and commitment, the next EYM location on Crenshaw, formerly known as the Sojourner Truth Industrial Club…. became our home. My church, FAME AME became our landlord and one of our biggest supporters under the direction of Pastor J. Edgar Boyd.

So, for more than thirty years, EYM has been a consistent beacon of light and continuity for so many families in need. Fully engaged and with total dedication, I have taught, designed programs, provided resources, and nurtured collaborations needed to shape human destiny without compromising my own. Finding success, love, and peace in both business and at home with my husband Richard and strengthening my relationship with God, have proven to be my greatest accomplishments.

With the support and guidance of EYM’s executive board and staff, the intelligent, talented, compassionate young men, and women you are going to meet were encouraged to dream without reserve, to do the work with commitment and purpose, and to have faith without apology, embarrassment, or shame.
