Loving Lydia

Book two of Rescued Hearts of the Civil War tells the tale of Lydia who is trying to survive during the Civil War.  She is determined to protect her stepdaughter at all costs.

Lydia is a caregiver and a survivor.  She takes care of so many and sacrifices her own happiness.  She is finally enjoying her freedom after being married to a cruel husband. She has not heard anything from him and assumes he died fighting in the war.

Seth is on a mission to hunt down the man who killed his wife. He was focused until he met Lydia.

God works miracles.  Both Lydia and Seth are recipients of God's grace. They  learned that forgiveness gives them peace and the ability to move on.

I have read the first book as well.  Very well written.

In Her Sights

I was intrigued by the title.  I am a cowboy action shooter.  I am not great but I am better than Tessa.  I usually hit my target.  Due to my limited knowledge of guns, I easily could identify what they were using.

Tessa has her eye on Jackson.  He's the TARGET of her affection.  With a little help from Annie Oakley, she is determined to catch her man!

This is a novella from a series called #Pink Pistol Sisterhood.  A quick read that makes you beg for more.  I will definitely look for the additional stories. The stories will be released every 10 days and will be on Kindle Unlimited.  How great is that?

They are releasing a free magazine to download.  Look at this cute cover.

Free Magazine!

The Fillies at Petticoats & Pistols will be releasing a series of four free magazines over the next month. These magazines contain all kinds of fun content including free first chapters, recipes, games, author interviews, a map to help you track the pistol’s movements, and even some original short stories.

The first issue introduces the entire series and highlights my novella as the story that will kick things off on March 30. Inside, you’ll find my first chapter, which serves as the origin story for the pink pistol, along with an author interview, a delicious apple muffin recipe, a fun word scramble, and more.

Downloading the free magazine will not subscribe you to any author newsletter. It’s purely for fun!

Second Time Around

Mallory inherited an old shop when her Grandmother died.  She was quite surprised.  What was she going to do with it?

Mallory, like so many others, thought she had their life all planned out.  This all changed when she returned to Portside.  The store and the location made her rethink her future.

A delightful story.  I really enjoy a book. Mallory worked extremely hard for her dream to come true.  She was fortunate she had new friends that were not only supportive but helped her achieve the impossible.

Under Fire

Tessa is one tough cookie.  She fought against the bad boys and often won!  She had the respect of her co-workers and did everything she could to keep them safe.  Zane is her best friend.  Zane was supportive and always there for her.  But Tessa wanted more.

Under Fire was certainly action packed.  It was difficult to put it down.  I'm a night reader.  I was just ready to turn off the light when Tessa was in a situation that she had to escape from.

Alcohol addiction and shame were battles that Tessa fought every day. Could she have the future she desired? Could she have a future with her best friend?

Cold Light of Day

Autumn had to fight to save her job.  She had to fight to save her life.

What an exciting book!  There was so many twists and turns.  You never knew what was going to happen next right to the last page.

Autumn and Grenier had secrets that emotionally held them back.  How many of us let our past dictate our future happiness?

I recommend this fast-paced story.  It was a quick read for me.  I enjoyed it.

March 2- The Ragged Orphan

I know that I am in for a treat when I get to read a book by Lindsey Hutchinson.
And I was!

This was a story of loss and determination.  Jared was honest and hardworking.  It served him well.  I loved him.  How could you not?

Seth was bitter and he had every reason to.  But his life was about to change.

Many of us could be very envious of their workplace.  Their boss, Mr. Maguire, was kind and great to work for.  He took more than just a small interest in their well being. He cared.

I can't say it enough.  I was captivated by the story.  It was well written.  It touched me.  I hope there will be a sequel.

The Maid of Ballymacool

A wonderful story with great characters.  I felt like I was in Ballymacool.  Michael Wray didn't want to go to Ballymacool. His parents insisted he go.

Brianna lived at Ballymacool all her life.  She couldn't escape the cruelty she found there.  I so desperately wanted to help Brianna.  Her circumstances were terrible.  Michael appeared and gave her hope.

Hope changes everything.  It gives you the ability to withstand unbearable circumstances.

I rate it 5 stars.  I received this book from the author to give a review.

ABOUT AUTHOR

Jennifer Deibel is a middle school teacher and freelance writer. Her work has appeared on (in)courage, on The Better Mom, in Missions Mosaic Magazine, and others. With firsthand immersive experience abroad, Jennifer writes stories that help redefine home through the lens of culture, history, and family. After nearly a decade of living in Ireland and Austria, she now lives in Arizona.

Book One- Letters of Trust

Alcoholism affects more families than we are aware of. It can become a dirty secret. The loved ones of the alcoholic live life like they were riding on a roller coaster. Never knowing what is going to happen from day to day. They become victims. They pull away from family and friends so the secret doesn't come out.

Eleanor was living this life. She tried to help her husband, Vic. But it was getting worse.  What was she going to do?  Eleanor didn't want to give up on her husband but Vic wasn't making it easy for her.

I have lived with alcoholics.  I was surprised that Eleanor stuck by Vic for as long as she did.  I don't think I could have done that.  She not only stayed with him but kept quiet about it.  The only person she told was her friend, Doretta.  She wrote "Letters of Trust" to her.  She knew Doretta would keep the information to herself.  We all need a friend like that.

The book wasn't easy to read but it was worth it.  A tough topic that affects so many.

Release date: March 28, 2023

To stay alive,

she must escape a killer’s clutches

Upon arriving in Montana, she finds an ally in Fletcher Shetler, but almost as soon as they meet, they’re running for their lives. From Love Inspired Suspense: Courage. Danger. Faith.

BOOK EXCERPT

Amish Wilderness Survival Excerpt 5

Fletcher couldn’t imagine going through such dangerous missions when the

lives of his fellow soldiers, as well as others they were trying to save, were on

the line.

Fletcher climbed up into the saddle and urged Jacob, the two-year-old

gelding, from the barn. Once they cleared the structure, he pressed his knees

against the gelding’s sides. Jacob immediately responded and took off at a

hard gallop.

Fall in the mountains presented its own dangers. You never knew when you’d

run into a stray bear foraging for a last bit of food before going into

hibernation. And sometimes the snow came early, creating havoc to those not

prepared for the winter months.

Halfway to Ethan’s place, the dogs could be heard barking anxiously.

Something was definitely wrong. Tension worked along Fletcher’s spine.

He rode harder while all sorts of terrible possibilities raced through his

head. The sunny day shifted overhead. A cool breeze chased down from the

snowcapped mountains. Ugly clouds gathering around the peaks seemed to

warn something was coming, and Fletcher wasn’t sure it would be confined

to the weather alone.

Once he crested the final hill, Ethan’s house and barn spread out before

him.

The Lumberjills

I have heard of land girls but never lumberjills.  This was a new one to me.  I was captivated by what they did.  It was extremely dangerous and put them at risk of suffering an injury.

The lumberjills were a group of young women that lucked out when they were assigned to Sheila and Bob's farm.   Each girl had a story to tell of how they landed up doing this dangerous job.    With time, they became close and shared their emotional journeys.

The characters were great. M W Arnold wrote an amazing story and I enjoyed it a great deal.  Its pretty amazing how he wrote female characters so realistically when he is a man.

I am more than ready to read other stories by M W Arnold.  He brought history to life.

I received this ebook from #BoldwoodBooks to review.

#RachelRandomResources

About M W Arnold

Mick is a hopeless romantic who was born in England but spent fifteen years roaming around the world in the pay of the late HM Queen Elisabeth II in the Royal Air Force before putting down roots—and realizing how much he missed the travel. This he’s replaced somewhat with his writing, including reviewing books and supporting fellow saga and romance authors in promoting their novels.

He’s the proud keeper of two Romanian Werecats bent on world domination, is mad on the music of the Beach Boys, and enjoys the theatre and humoring his Manchester United-supporting wife.

Finally, and most importantly, Mick is a full member of the Romantic Novelists Association. The Lumberjills is the lead book in this new series from the author of the Broken Wings novels.

Rachael's Decision

I'm an Amish fiction nut. I have many favorite Amish authors and Molly Jebber is one of them.

The story is centered around Rachael.  She has suffered greatly.  Her losses weigh heavily on her heart.  It impacts her choices even if it breaks her heart.

The characters are realistic to the point where I wanted to wring someone's neck.  I won't mention names but you will know as you read the story.  Why do some people like to be miserable? Or cause trouble for others?

I felt Rachael told too many people about her private health issues.  I think she gave out more information than she needed to.  I thought it was her way of coping with her issues.

Can Rachael find true happiness?  It is all up to Rachael's Decision.

I received this ebook to review from the Celebrate Lit.
