Abigail's Pursuit by Jodi Wolfe

Abigail lost her brother, her father and now she was losing her home.  What more could happen?

Daniel just showed up at her front door.  The last person she wanted to see. The last person she expected to see.

Daniel and Abigail had past regrets.  These regrets could threaten their chance of happiness.

I really liked Abigail. She was determined to save her home.  But not at all costs.. she was doing it on her own terms.

I really appreciated Sunday mornings in this book. The Pastor's sermons left the congregation with some powerful messages.

You need to pick up a copy of Abigail's Pursuit. It was a touching and powerful read. A book about redemption and not giving up on hope.

The Pick Pocket Plight

I was so excited to get ahold of this one.  I read the first book and I just hated it to end.  This one continues on with BJ in Australia learning the ranch trade. Alice is thriving in her bakery business.

Is there any chance for the two of them to reunite?

They both were great judges of character.  They developed friendships with quite interesting people.  And it was a delight to get to know them.

The Pick-Pockets’ Plight

They only had each other – now they’re being torn apart.

When thirteen-year-old Bertram Jordan is arrested and sent to a penal colony in Australia, his biggest regret is leaving behind his friend Alice Truelove. The children were each other’s comfort when they had to live rough on Wednesbury heath, surviving on whatever meagre funds they could pilfer from passing market-goers. Now they must face their futures alone.

While BJ is learning to survive and then thrive on a cattle ranch in Fremantle, surrounded by the hundreds of other men and boys who have been shipped from England, Alice is making her own way in the poverty-stricken Black Country. When a stroke of good fortune means that Alice can start her own business, she cunningly disguises her young age, and before long has established a thriving bakery. As her business grows, so do her responsibilities, and Alice relishes the opportunity to help those who helped her when she was down.

But every night as Alice and BJ rest their heads on opposite sides of the world, both go to sleep with the same last thought. Will they ever see each other again?

The Queen of Black Country sagas is back with a fascinating tale of bravery, forever friendship, heartbreak and joy. Perfect for all fans of Katie Flynn, Val Wood and Lyn Andrews.

A Hope Unburied

Titus 3:4-7 ESV

But when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that being justified by his grace we might become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

Am I worthy enough?  Does my life have value?

I believe that these are two questions everyone asks themselves.  Eliza did.

I appreciated the story about  a strong,  but vulnerable woman who loves the Lord.

Not often can I find a book like this.  Eliza had her weak moments but GOD put the right people at the right time in her life.

Eliza was interested in paleontology.  This is quite different career choice for a woman in 1916. Devin was more interested in literature.  They were as different as chalk and cheese but their relationship worked.

Devin and Eliza were lifelong friends.  But could they be more?  I hope so because I loved their characters.

About the Author

Kimberley Woodhouse is an award-winning, bestselling author of more than forty fiction and nonfiction books. Kim and her incredible husband of thirty-plus years live in Colorado, where they play golf together, spend time with their kids and grandkids, and research all the history around them.

More from Kimberley

A couple of years ago, I asked readers on my Facebook page what they were interested in reading in Christian fiction. When one reader and friend suggested I write about the Bone Wars, I was intrigued and instantly excited. I had no idea how much of a blessing writing the Treasures of the Earth series would be.

I traveled all over western Colorado, eastern Utah and southern Wyoming, looking at the incredible displays of bones of magnificent creatures of our past. Stopping at every tiny museum along the way, and even driving miles and miles into the middle of nowhere to find just the right setting for The Secrets Beneath. But it was going to Dinosaur National Monument in Jensen, Utah that truly helped these three books come to life.

The monument was established in October 1915 by President Woodrow Wilson. The 80 acres encompassed the Carnegie Quarry, where paleontologist Earl Douglass was digging, trying to find intact dinosaur skeletons to send back to Carnegie’s museum in Pittsburgh. Eventually, President Franklin D. Roosevelt expanded the park to encompass more than 200,000 acres.

But this monument wouldn’t exist without the determination of one man: Earl Douglass. I had the pleasure of meeting and spending time with Diane Douglass Iverson, his granddaughter, during one of my research trips. She was generous with her time and memories as she shared her grandfather’s journals and memories with me. The longer we talked, the more the idea for what would be the third book of this series took shape. Though Earl is not a primary character in Eliza’s story, his presence and impact on the science of paleontology is felt through the pages.

In fact, each chapter of all three books has a quote from the book his son created out of his journal entries, titled Speak to the Earth and It Will Teach You. I am grateful to Diane for the opportunity to share his struggles, hopes, and dreams with my readers.

With this last book, I hope you enjoy Eliza’s joyful spirit, as well as her struggles to find her place in this world. She’s a spirited young woman with a passion for fossils and how God has created this incredible planet. You’ll get to visit Dinosaur National Monument with her, seeing the founding of this great national treasure through her eyes. I hope you love visiting there in your imagination and that you get the opportunity to visit on your own someday. But even more than that, I pray that, like Eliza, you find joy and confidence where God has placed you in His story.

Amish Christmas Rescue

Love can you find you when you least expect it.

Anna loved her chocolate shop. It was everything she hoped for. Except she would love to have a husband and children some day.

A cute story of Anna and her neighbor's plan to find her one.

I read this in record speed.  I couldn't put it down. Love, chocolate, a cute dog and Christmas captured my attention.

Samantha Price has become one of my favorite Amish authors.  She delivers every time.

Loved the story.  Loved Anna.

Wrangling the Wandering Rancher

I was first introduced to Jody Hedlund a few years ago.  I have no idea how many of her books I have enjoyed. I was hooked from the start.  She continues to entertain me every time.

This book is about Maisy and Tanner.  They have been friends for many years but there was something more there. All it took was one kiss.  A kiss that can't be forgotten. A kiss that makes them rethink what their future may hold.

This story contains everything you want in a story:  passion, adventure, a beautiful girl and a hunky man with a heart of gold!

I can't get enough of Jody Hedlund's books.  I quickly devour a new book and wait so impatiently for the next. You will love this!!

I received a copy of this book to review from the author.

The Island Girls

Sometimes we find ourselves doing the unimaginable.   Peggy discovered that she had the emotional and physical strength to accomplish the impossible. She risked everything plus the chance of a future with the love of her life.

Her secrets were discovered years later by a young woman who once was her neighbor, Rebekah.  Rebekah worked on Brownsea Island.  This is where she found a letter that led Rebekah on a road to discovery.

This story was written in two timelines.  It was easy to read.  I enjoyed reading about both women and of the men that they love.

I received this from Boldwood Books to review.

The Island Girls

1941: For the townspeople of Poole on the Dorset coast, the war feels like it's right on their doorstep. But when she is asked to undertake a special mission, she will have to make a terrible choice – between her duty to her country and her only chance of happiness.

1998: Rebekah has travelled halfway around the world to take up a role on Brownsea Island. This tiny island off the coast of England is a treasure trove of natural wonder, but it still carries the scars of fighting. Unforgotten

Wow.  That's the reaction I had as I read this powerful story of an Amish girl and her English cousin. Both girls were dealing with issues that are difficult to forget.

Fear can stop you in your tracks.  Bethanne spent years allowing fear to control her life.  She was traumatized by a past event.  Her Amish family did the best they could to support her.

Candace was living her life with no apparent worries.  And then everything changed.  She tried to handle her problem on her own. But it was only getting worse. Who could she turn to?

We all have experienced fear of some kind or another.  Fear can motivate.  Fear can immobilize. Fear can destroy. Fear can be conquered.

The cousins found themselves in a situation where they had to rely on each other to battle evil. This gave them the extra strength they didn't know they had.

I won't forget this book any time soon.

I received this book to review from the author.

Jennifer Beckstrand- Amish Christmas Table

Alfie and Benji are at it again.  They have schemed and planned ways to marry off their older brothers so that they can have their bedroom back.  After 4 years of sleeping in the basement, it was about to come true.   But it seems someone just messed up their chance to get out of the stinky, cold and bug infested basement!

These twins are something else.  Adorable but stinkers. You can't help but love them. I'm sure you will enjoy Christmas around the new table with the wonderful Petersheim family.

I was ever so happy to read the next installment of this family.  You never know what to expect.

This is just one story- Trouble at the Christmas Table  that is in this new book collection called  Amish Christmas Table.  The authors are all known to me as I have been reading Amish fiction for a few years.  I knew I was in for a treat.  Its a perfect choice in preparation for the holiday season.

Family Affairs at Orchard Cottage Hospital

Dr. Frances Brakespeare has many unanswered questions about her birth and her adoption. She needs to find answers especially after her adopted mother's sister threatens to take her name and reputation away from her. Frances is a fighter and she will get the answers. But the truth might come at a cost.

On a historical note, it covers a time period where birth control is just being introduced to women in this community.  It's frustrating in seeing how some husbands felt it was a threat.  A threat to what?

This is Book two of the series.  I was familiar with the characters as I read the previous book.  I loved catching up with them.

I expect this story will continue as it ends with wanting more. I'll be right there ready to read more about Frances and the Orchard County Hospital.

Thank you Boldwood Books for giving me the opportunity to read this story to review.

Counting Miracles

Nicholas Sparks never lets you down.  He always delivers a book that you will enjoy.  This is no exception.

I loved the story and the characters became real to me.

Jasper tugged at my heart.  He had suffered so much in his life. But he never lost faith.  The kindness he received from his Doctor and her son was a blessing.  More than a blessing because it brought him Tanner.

Great book.

A Wife for the Rancher

Ryder was in a terrible predicament.   He needed a mother for his young son, Boone.  His only choice was to write to a mail order bride.

Genevieve needed to get away and she needed to do it fast.  She escaped to Colorado and married Ryder under false pretenses.

Both needed to keep a physical and emotional distance from each other.  Genevieve felt this was a temporary situation.  Ryder was burned before and was waiting for it to happen again.

I really enjoyed the story.  It was a delight to see how their expectations of each other changed and how their relationship developed.

Close to the end of the book two characters were introduced.  Mr. Abercrombie is the least person you would expect to be a lawyer.  But wow, he was good and honest with his advice.  Emmitt was hired to bring Genevieve back to Colorado against her wishes.  He turned out to be one of her biggest protectors.   She couldn't go wrong with them and Ryder by her side.

Thank you, Jody Hedlund for allowing me to read this book to review.
