Saving the Mountain Man's Legacy

A few  years ago I was introduced to Misty M Beller's books.  I have been a fan ever since. She has a way to draw me  right in the story as if I was part of it. This was no exception.

Brothers of Sapphire Ranch has been a delight. I have loved every brother.  This is about Sampson. He is trying to right a wrong.  In the meantime, he finds himself helping a young woman and an infant.

Could Jewell trust Sampson? Sampson knew that she was in danger and that only he could keep her and the baby safe.

I was flabbergasted by the cruelty of some the men. I guess that is why they are called "bad guys".

This is the conclusion of the series. I'm sad. But I am positive there are a lot more hours of enjoyment to come.

I received this book to review from Celebrate Lit.

More from Misty

Hello Friends!

I’m BEYOND excited to share the finale of the Brothers of Sapphire Ranch series with you! This is Sampson’s story, the black sheep of the family. I thought it might be fun to give you a taste of one of my favorite scenes in the book:

***

Sampson eyed the woman he’d been told to marry. “I’d feel better if you and Ruby weren’t at the mercy of your father. I’d rather give you my name and make sure you have a nice place to live—a safe place. I’ll make sure you want for nothing.” She studied him with furrowed brow. He let his eyes plead with her as he said this last part. “Please consider it. For Ruby’s sake, if nothing else.”

Her expression didn’t change, she simply…stared at him. What thoughts churned in that mind of hers? Did she believe him?

Or did she think he was on her father’s side, trying to manipulate her into giving him control?

Show her the truth, Lord.

At last, her mouth parted as she prepared to speak. Her voice came out hesitant. “Would you expect to…live with us? Like a real husband?”

He shook his head, fighting off the burn in his cheeks at what she really asked. “You can live wherever you like. My family has a ranch a day’s ride from here. You’re welcome to move in there. Or if you want to be on your own, near a town, we’ll find a place you like.” He forced himself to meet her gaze again. They had to be honest with each, and he couldn’t let embarrassment get in the way of anything she needed to ask. “I won’t expect anything from you. Nothing like in a usual marriage.”

Her shoulders sagged a little, as if in relief. But a small furrow remained between her brows. “Why are you doing this? Why would you willingly burden yourself with us?”

He let himself consider her question. Why did he want her to say yes so much? He didn’t owe her anything. She was the daughter of his enemy—kin to the man who stole a year’s worth of sapphires from his family.

But this woman was different. Nothing like Jedidiah. And for some reason, he craved to keep her safe. To protect her from the evil who’d sired her. She didn’t deserve to be at that man’s mercy. Nor did the sweet child.

Sampson could help her so easily. Not only did he have money from his share of the sapphires, which he’d saved for years, he also had his pay from McPharland.

He swallowed as he tried to put all this into words. “I can help you.” His voice graveled with how much he wanted to do that. And then he let himself say the real truth. “And maybe in helping you, I can make up for my own mistakes.”

I pray you love Sampson and Grace’s story in Saving the Mountain Man’s Legacy!

Blessings!

Misty

The Pursuit of Elena Bradford

I thank GOD I didn't live back then. Due to financial difficulty, Elena must marry someone she doesn't love. Her mother insisted upon it. This was their only solution.

So off they go to this fancy resort to find Elena a husband. There they met quite a few interesting characters.

Elena had low self esteem. She was always compared to her lovely sister. She didn't see that she was loveable and beautiful. To her surprise, she attracted a few suitors including an old man!

I enjoyed the book. Ann Gabhart knows how to tell a story.

Troubled Times at Harpers

Life is full of ups and downs. Sally and her husband, Ben, run Harpers.  Sally loves her job and her staff. She is in her element.

Then a curveball is thrown at them. Ben needs to go to America to deal with a family problem.

Sally loves her husband and is supportive but she is apprehensive. Something just doesn't feel right.

The employees of Harpers all have stories to tell. Kitty discovers a relative she knew nothing about. Mariah wonders if it is time to make a change in her status. Ruby finds true happiness.

I really enjoyed the story. It touched my heart on a few occasions. I felt their pain. I connected with the characters.

I received this book from Boldwood to review.

Lovely story.

The Bible Companion- Book 2

About the Book

Book Title: The Bible Companion Book 2 Leviticus-Deuteronomy

Author Name: Karen Westbrook Moderow

Genre: Bible Study

Do you struggle to relate to God in the Old Testament?

The Bible Companion Book 2 can help. Its simple one-chapter-a-day format lets you engage with Scripture without the pressure of schedules, homework, or heavy reading loads. Short daily readings and thought-provoking questions help you recognize God’s faithfulness even in your most difficult journey.

Though filled with unfamiliar symbols and rituals, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy hold treasures—the great promises of God. They show us the lengths to which God goes to be in our daily lives. Hard-to-read passages come alive as we travel with Israel to the Promised Land and discover the same God who guided His people in ancient times guides us today. If you want to know what God is like and what matters to Him . . . if you question His love for you . . . if you wonder how believing God can change your life, these books of the Law will speak to you. For personal and group study.

Book Excerpt

Anything offered must be without blemish—all offerings must be the very best (Lev. 1:3). Some ingredients are specifically excluded. Yeast is forbidden, as it’s a reminder of Israel’s hasty departure from Egypt (Deut. 16:3). In the New Testament, yeast symbolizes evil (Luke 12:1; 1 Cor. 5:8). Honey is also forbidden, possibly because it ferments (decays), or perhaps because of its use in Canaanite cultic religions.14 Salt, however, is required. Its preservative nature speaks to the enduring quality of the covenant.15

The grain offering is a voluntary act of worship. It does not involve animal sacrifice but is prepared with foods grown in the field. This offering shows gratitude for God’s provision.16 The idea that the first and best portion of our blessings belongs to God will soon become a command to tithe (Deut. 14:22). In time, tithing as a law will pass away, but the principle remains: we are to express our gratitude for God’s grace and blessings through generous giving.

COMPANION THOUGHT

What has God given to you? What do you consider a generous portion to give back? What is the basis of your answer?

Leviticus 3: THE FELLOWSHIP OFFERING

If you offer an animal from the flock as a fellowship offering to the Lord . . .

Leviticus 3:6

Capture the Moment

My husband and I have recently been talking about some of our amazing vacations.  A few years back we had a motorhome. We loaded up our 2 dogs and cat and off we went outwest. We saw some beautiful places but The Grand Tetons was my favorite. Words can't describe how majestic it is.

How excited I was when I saw that this book was set there.  It allowed me to revisit that wonderful vacation.

Kate had the opportunity to really prove that photography was her future. So she loaded up her vehicle with dreams of the possibilities before her.

Cooper worked part-time in The Tetons during the summer. This was his happy place. A time to regroup before he returned to teach high school in the Fall.

The location as well as the plot kept me up to 3:00 am last night. I feel yucky today but I couldn't put this book down. I loved it. The supporting characters were entertaining. I loved the ending. I won't tell but you have to read this.

Thank you, Celebrate Lit, for giving me the opportunity to read an early copy to review.

About the Book

Book: Capture the Moment

Author: Suzanne Woods Fisher

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Release date: May 6, 2025

Kate Cunningham is facing the opportunity of a lifetime. As a zoo photographer, she’s spent years photographing animals in carefully controlled environments, but now National Geographic has dangled an irresistible prize: If Kate can snag a unique photo of a legendary bear in Grand Teton National Park, they just might publish it. It’s the kind of challenge Kate has been waiting for, and she’s eager to prove herself in the wild.

With more enthusiasm than experience, Kate soon realizes that capturing an image of this bear isn’t as simple as she hoped. Fortunately, she crosses paths with Grant Cooper, a seasonal park ranger who knows the terrain–and the bears–better than anyone. His tracking skills could be exactly what Kate needs to succeed, and it doesn’t hurt that he’s easy on the eyes. But they’re not the only ones with an interest in the park’s most famous bear. And his motives are far from innocent.

A Spark that Lit a Story

By Suzanne Woods Fisher

Capture the Moment (Revell—May 6, 2025)

Inspiration can strike in the most unexpected places—like a gift shop in Grand Teton National Park. While browsing, I struck up a conversation with a college student who had never set foot outside Alabama until her mom dropped her off for a summer job in the park. One minute, she was home in the Deep South; the next, she was surrounded by towering peaks and moose crossings. Talk about a culture shock.

That conversation lit a spark that eventually became my National Parks Summers series. I couldn’t stop thinking about the fascinating mix of people who work seasonally in national parks. You’ve got fresh-faced college kids on their first big adventure, retirees finally living their bucket-list dreams, and everyone in between. These parks aren’t just natural wonders—they’re crossroads for people from all walks of life, all chasing something unique.

In Capture the Moment, I wanted to explore what happens when people and landscapes collide. Kate Cunningham, a determined zoo photographer, swaps enclosures for the wilds of Grand Teton, chasing an elusive bear and her own sense of purpose. Along the way, Kate meets Grant Cooper, a rugged park ranger with a knack for tracking and a talent for keeping her on her toes.

National parks are more than just beautiful backdrops—they’re places where people find themselves, lose themselves, and sometimes stumble into something extraordinary.

Maybe even love.

Seven Brides for Seven Texans

Their father gave his seven Texas sons an ultimatum.  Why? What's the rush? By the end of the year, each son must take a bride to inherit his part of the estate.

Each son was strong, handsome and determined to accomplish their father's request.

There are seven stories by seven different authors in this collection. I was familiar with most. Each story was about one brother. By the end of the collection, I felt connected to the Hart Family.

I appreciate collections like this. I can easily read one story at night and pick up the next later on.

These clean and wholesome stories were just to my liking. I would have loved it if the Hart's had seven more brothers.

I received this from Celebrate Lit to review.

About the Authors

Gabrielle Meyer, a Minnesota native, draws inspiration for her historical fiction from the rich stories and landscapes of her home state, where she lives on the banks of the upper Mississippi River with her husband and four children. A former employee of the Minnesota Historical Society, Gabrielle loves weaving real people, places, and events into her captivating tales.

Best-selling, award-winning author Erica Vetsch weaves her love for Jesus, history, romance, and sports into her stories, including The Debutante’s Code, the first in the Thorndike & Swann Regency Mystery Series. When she’s not crafting fiction or planning her next trip to a history museum.

Bestselling author Amanda Barratt brings to life overlooked moments in history through her award-winning novels, including The Warsaw SistersWithin These Walls of Sorrow, and The White Rose Resists. Based in Michigan, she’s often immersed in research, tackling her ever-growing TBR stack, or savoring a slice of lemon cake.

Carol Award finalist Lorna Seilstad explores life’s complexities with humor in her nine novels, including the Lake Manawa Summers and Gregory Sisters series, as well as several novella collections. When she’s not writing, she teaches women’s Bible classes, runs a toy store, plans weddings, or spends time with her Pyredoodle, Honey Bea.

Keli Gwyn crafts inspirational historical romances that she loves to read. A California native, she now lives in the greater Sacramento area with her husband and their sweet orange tabby, enjoying life close to family.

Vickie McDonough, a CBA, EPCA, and Amazon best-selling author of 54 books and novellas, brings the Old West to life in her award-winning romances featuring ranchers, cowboys, and lawmen. Though married to a computer geek who fears horses, she lives out her ranching dreams through her stories—and when she’s not writing, she enjoys reading, gardening, making cards, and traveling.

More from Erica

Hi, I’m Erica Vetsch, and I loved collaborating on the stories for the 7 Brides for 7 Texans collection. It was fun writing stories that were so intertwined, and working closely with the other authors in the collection to bring the whole concept together.

Initially, I was approached by a publisher, asking if I would be interested in heading up a novella collection loosely based on the idea of 7 Brides for 7 Brothers, the classic musical. The parameters were that the stories must be no longer than 25K words, be historical in setting, and that I could choose the overall concept, as well as my team of authors.

I, of course, jumped at the chance. Before I contacted anyone, I worked up a rough idea of the premise of the stories. A wealthy Texas rancher with seven strapping sons is tired of waiting for them to get married and provide him with grandchildren, so he issues an ultimatum. Get married by the end of the calendar year, or you’re disinherited.

I named all the sons after famous Texans, and gave them a birth order, then I began contacting writing friends to see if they were interested in joining the project. Everyone I asked said yes! 😊

Then the real fun began. We formed a private Facebook group, and as the characters were chosen by the various authors, the order of the stories in the collection formed, and as ideas for storylines poured in, I began creating what we came to call The Master Document.

In the MD we tracked main characters’ names and appearances, secondary characters, a map of the fictional town of Hartsville, TX, and more. It eventually ran to more than 20 pages of information. We named the town newspaper, the general store, and kept track of the layout of the Harts’ massive ranch house. Keeping these details all in one place made it easy for the authors to flesh out their story world in a way that was consistent with everyone else’s stories.

Because the stories are so closely tied and on such a tight timeline, each of the authors’ characters would appear in another author’s novella. We needed to respect each other’s visions for the characters and treat them with respect, while also having the freedom to write our own stories.

Early on, as the project coordinator, it was established that if a dispute arose between two authors on how something should go, it would be myself who would cast the final vote. However, that contingency never came into play, as all the authors worked so well together.

One of the most challenging aspects of the project was, that as the project lead, and the one writing the final story in the collection, I needed to know the most about all the stories. Just before the deadline to turn our stories into the publisher, each author sent their story along to me to read for continuity. I spent a long weekend at author Gabrielle Meyer’s house, and we read every novella aloud, making notes for consistency and continuity throughout. These notes were turned in to the project editor, and she used them in her editing process to make sure seven separate stories felt cohesive.

It truly was a fun—and to me—unique, project, and when the publisher asked if I would like to head up a follow up collection, I was eager to say yes, and thus 7 Brides for 7 Texas Rangers was born.

Both of these intertwined collections went out of print, but they are now being released once more, this time through Wild Heart Books. I’m thrilled that we can tell our stories to new readers and prolong the lives of these characters.

Troubled Times for Tilly

Tilly loves her family with all her heart.  She is very protective of her children but knows she has to let go.  Will her daughter go down the same path as she? Will her son be influenced by his father's family?

Her marriage to Sam is a treasure to behold. He is there by her side through thick and thin. What a man!  I totally get it as I have the best husband myself.

Her family has had one upset after another. But can they survive the loss of Maggie May? The ship her husband loves the most.

Everytime Tilly's daughter went out to an event, I held my breath.  Please keep her safe. I prayed that she had a good head on her shoulders. And I'm not her mother!

I enjoyed the story. Very entertaining. I loved Tilly.

I received this book to review from Boldwood Books.

A Season of Secrets

Reading an Amish Bonnet Sisters Series is like being at home. I love all the characters. I always look forward to an update of this wonderful family.

There always seems to be drama with Matthew. His lovelife is like riding a roller coaster. Will he ever find true love and happiness?

Wilma and Ada continue on with their close friendship.  Do you have a friendship that has lasted for years?  My longest friendship has lasted 40 years so far.

A delightful story that is a pleasure to read. The characters  always come to life for me. I open the book and it's like a family reunion.

-The Girls Who Dared to Love

I almost didn't read this new book by Diney Costeloe.  I'm so glad I did. A couple of nights staying up late to finish that last chapter was well worth it.

I loved the ladies that made up "The Girls". They each had their struggles. Each young woman figured out what they were capable of.

Lucinda was eager to help others as she waited for her husband to come home from war. Mabel was focused on her career until she met Charles.

Strong women, stronger than they thought they were.

I hope to assume there will be a sequel. I want to know what the future holds for THE GIRLS WHO DARED TO LOVE.

I received this book from Boldwood Books to review.

The Girls Who Dared to Love
Three girls seem to have the world at their feet in the summer of 1914. But World War I is coming and things will change forever – especially for women.
Debutante Lucinda McFarlane is engaged to be married to Major Sir David Melcome, but their society wedding has to be scaled right down when war is declared and David is recalled to his regiment.
Mabel Oakley, once a maid for the McFarlanes, has inherited Thomas Clarke’s printing works, but an unexpected turn of events leaves her at the mercy of her father’s old enemy, solicitor John Sheridan. What can she do?
Lady Diana Fosse-Bury is incredibly beautiful and reckless. When war is declared she immediately wants to be in the thick of it. Can her budding romance with Lucinda McFarlane’s brother Iain survive the Western front?
With war coming, the destinies of these three girls will soon be entwined forever, but only if they dare to love in the face of the dangers ahead of them.
