Samantha Price- A Home of Their Own

Wilma decides to pay a visit to her daughter, Cherish.  Of course, Ada decides to join her.  She is usually right there by her best friend's side.

This is a continuation of books about the Bonnet Sisters.  They are quite entertaining.  Samantha Price knows how to end her stories.  It's like the old movies series you would go see at the cinema.  It ends with a cliffhanger that draws you to come back next week to see what happened.

Secrets are kept.  Secrets are told.  I was quite surprised by some and upset by others.

Wilma and her daughters have become very familiar to me after a few books.  It's comforting to read a story and you know the characters already.  But do you really?  There's always a surprise.

I received this book to review by the author.

Forged in Love

Mariah is a survivor.  There is no other way to explain how she escaped death on numerous occasions.  It took awhile for her to realize that someone wants her dead.

She always felt she had to prove herself.  She ignored her desires and interests to please her father.

Mariah liked Clint but kept him at a distance.  Clint was quite interested in Mariah but fear stopped him from making any moves.

GOD doesn't need you to impress him.  HE tells you not to be afraid.  Mariah and Clint need to trust that GOD loved them just as they are.

New International Version
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

When sparks begin to fly, can a friendship cast in iron be shaped into something more?

Mariah Stover is left for dead and with no memory when the Deadeye Gang robs the stagecoach she’s riding in, killing both her father and brother. The Inspiration

I started plotting this novel when I found out that Wyoming was the first state (then a territory) in the Union to grant women the right to vote. Then I discovered it wasn’t just the right to vote; all sorts of other rights were given to women as well, like the right to run for elected office or be appointed to office. In fact, the first woman justice of the peace in the U.S. was from Wyoming. This inspired me to have one of my heroines be the second justice of the peace in the country.

As I continued my research, reading about all that went on in Wyoming was fascinating. They became a territory in 1868—with women voting—and yet they weren’t allowed statehood for another thirty years. With other states being granted statehood in only a few years, why was this? Because the U.S. government refused to let Wyoming in unless they took the vote away from women.

Because Wyoming adamantly refused to strip the vote from women, year after year they were denied statehood. When they finally did get it, the state’s women maintained their right to vote because Wyoming would not budge on the issue. The whole history of this was great reading.

So I wrote a three-book series called Wyoming Sunrise in which all my heroines play against the normal, conventional female roles of the day.

Now, what job could I possibly think of that wasn’t traditionally for women? How about Mariah who happens to be a blacksmith? And while I’m writing against stereotypes, I created a man named Clint who runs a diner. That wasn’t too unusual, for lots of diners were run by men back in the day. Yet not many of them were talented chefs trained in high-class restaurants in New York City. Clint is an excellent chef. Of course, an excellent chef in a small Wyoming town is kind of wasted on folks who prefer fried chicken and beef stew.

Clint makes chicken and beef, but he calls his dishes weird names and makes them unusually delicious. Meanwhile, Mariah is working over a hot forge for long hours every day. When her father and brother are killed in a stagecoach holdup, she becomes the only blacksmith in town.

There’s some resistance to her doing such a masculine job, but even among those who disapprove, well, they’ve got a broken wagon wheel or a hole in their kettle and it’s either let Mariah fix it or go without. Mariah is allowed to be a blacksmith out of pure necessity.

My second book, The Laws of Attraction, has a female justice of the peace, while the third, Marshaling Her Heart, features a tough lady rancher. I write westerns, and honestly, writing about tough, feisty lady ranchers like Becky the Rancher comes naturally to me. Writing about a blacksmith and a judge, however, presents more of a challenge.

Mariah, who survived the stagecoach holdup, learns that the robbers believe she might know something that will reveal their identity, and she needs to be silenced. Clint tries to protect her and finds himself stepping between her and a murderous gang of outlaws.

Through it all, love finds them, and they begin to forge a life together.

After the Shadows

Emily returned home with a secret.  She wanted no one to know what a mess she made.  She discovered when she came home it was too late.

Emily was determined to find out what happened to her father.  During her search, Emily discovered that a family is not just parents or siblings.  Her family was her close friends and associates.

Craig tried to run from his past.  But he found his future at Finley House.

I enjoyed the book.  Fortunately, there will be a sequel.

I received this book from Revell Reads to review.

AUTHOR

With both parents avid readers, it's no surprise that Amanda Cabot learned to read at an early age. From there it was only a small step to deciding to become a writer. Of course, deciding and becoming are two different things, as she soon discovered. Fortunately for the world, her first attempts at fiction, which included a play for her fifth grade class entitled "All About Thermometers," were not published, but she did meet her goal of selling a novel by her thirtieth birthday. Since then she's sold more than forty novels. When she's not writing, Amanda enjoys sewing, cooking and - of course - reading.

Honor's Mountain Promise

I just can't get enough of Misty M. Beller's books.  I love the way she brings me to another time and place.  I have never been disappointed with any of her stories. This story is no exception.

I would never have dreamed to go on a long journey while pregnant.  This is a time to prepare for the baby and rest. But Katie had no choice.  She had to get to civilization and fast.  Could she do this on her own?

GOD was there for Katie when she met Aaron.  Aaron was changing his life in more ways than he could imagine when he came across Katie.

ABOUT THE BOOK

Book: Honor’s Mountain Promise

WW2Author: Misty M. Beller

Genre:Christian Historical Romance

Release date: March 5, 2023

They both need a new start, but this looks nothing like either of them planned.

Aaron Long never expected his life to turn out this way—finally on the right side of the law, but with a bum leg and driving a freight wagon through the wild Rocky Mountains. The only excitement left in his days is his newfound faith. But in the midst of an urgent deliver to settlers fort, the last thing he expects is to discover a woman great with child who pleads for him to take her back to Fort Benton—the opposite direction from Settler’s Fort. He can’t leave her, but he also can’t take her where she wants to go.

Katie Barlowe rarely had a say in how her life would go, not even when she married the successful businessman her parents selected for her. Nor when he brought her all the way ut to the Montana Territory to start a ranch in these breathtaking and treacherous mountains. She’s a widow now and determined to take control of her future and that of the new life growing inside her. To do so, she must get back to civilization—before the babe is born. When she finally finds a freighter who will take her the first leg of her journey east, all seems to be finally falling into place. Until her transporter is killed and she’s faced with a stranger who will only agree to take her to a little mining town far from Fort Benton and the steamship to carry her home.

When Aaron and Katie set out through the mountain winter, the journey ahead will change their lives more than they could have known.

When the Other Brother Finally Gets His Story

Have you ever read a series that needed just one more book? A significant side character needed their story told?

That’s been the case with my Hearts of Montana series for two years now! I thought I’d wrapped up the series with book 3, Faith’s Mountain Home, which features Nate and Laura as they unravel the mystery around a cave near their Montana frontier town. Nate’s twin brother Aaron played a strong part in that story—and not always as one of the good guys. He was recovering from a gunshot wound that shattered his thighbone, and Laura (the heroine) was his nurse and chief physical therapy sergeant. In those dark days during his recovery, Aaron made some poor choices and definitely wasn’t the best version of himself.

By the end of Faith’s Mountain Home, Aaron saw the change in his twin brother Nate and how his new faith made him different—a better man. In one of the last scenes, Aaron apologizes to Laura for how he’s made her job harder when she was trying so hard to help him. We even get a ray of hope that Aaron might be opening himself up to God’s redeeming power.

Ever since that book released, readers and I have both been looking for Aaron’s story! The book where he finds his own leading lady and becomes the man God created him to be (but not without major obstacles along the way!)

Even if you haven’t read the other books in the series, I think you’ll love Aaron’s story in Honor’s Mountain Promise as much as I did.

Praying blessings for you!

Misty

When Tomorrow Came

Sacrifice.  Heath would do anything to save his sister, Nan. But would he sacrifice his future for his father?

I stayed up quite late last night reading this book.  I was hoping it turned out the way I wanted.  Nan must make the right choice.  Was she also going to sacrifice her happiness to please others?

All the characters were written exceptionally well.  Each character became real to me. Temperance longed to be loved.  Young Charlotte needed her family's love and attention.  Others needed revenge.

I don't want to give anything away but it was a surprise how it ended.  It is a real page turner.

I was given the opportunity to read this by the author herself.  Thank you, Hannah Linder.

Loving Lydia

Book two of Rescued Hearts of the Civil War tells the tale of Lydia who is trying to survive during the Civil War.  She is determined to protect her stepdaughter at all costs.

Lydia is a caregiver and a survivor.  She takes care of so many and sacrifices her own happiness.  She is finally enjoying her freedom after being married to a cruel husband. She has not heard anything from him and assumes he died fighting in the war.

Seth is on a mission to hunt down the man who killed his wife. He was focused until he met Lydia.

God works miracles.  Both Lydia and Seth are recipients of God's grace. They  learned that forgiveness gives them peace and the ability to move on.

I have read the first book as well.  Very well written.

In Her Sights

I was intrigued by the title.  I am a cowboy action shooter.  I am not great but I am better than Tessa.  I usually hit my target.  Due to my limited knowledge of guns, I easily could identify what they were using.

Tessa has her eye on Jackson.  He's the TARGET of her affection.  With a little help from Annie Oakley, she is determined to catch her man!

This is a novella from a series called #Pink Pistol Sisterhood.  A quick read that makes you beg for more.  I will definitely look for the additional stories. The stories will be released every 10 days and will be on Kindle Unlimited.  How great is that?

They are releasing a free magazine to download.  Look at this cute cover.

Free Magazine!

The Fillies at Petticoats & Pistols will be releasing a series of four free magazines over the next month. These magazines contain all kinds of fun content including free first chapters, recipes, games, author interviews, a map to help you track the pistol’s movements, and even some original short stories.

The first issue introduces the entire series and highlights my novella as the story that will kick things off on March 30. Inside, you’ll find my first chapter, which serves as the origin story for the pink pistol, along with an author interview, a delicious apple muffin recipe, a fun word scramble, and more.

Downloading the free magazine will not subscribe you to any author newsletter. It’s purely for fun!
