I really liked Peggy. She was determined to give her children a better life than she had. She was determined to save her home.  She didn't waste time in questioning "Why me?".

Beamer Street was a great  place to live. Neighbors became family.  They were there to help each other out. Sadly, you don't see that much today.  I have neighbors that I have never met.

I loved the book.  Peggy was a character that you can root for.
