Revell Reads- The Last Way Home

  • Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.
This was difficult for Eli and Violet to do.  Forgive themselves.  They could forgive others but not themselves.  This caused a great deal of anxiety and stress for the both of them.
They were holding on to their secrets. These secrets were not allowing them to live a fruitful life. This is not what GOD intended.
  • I didn't realize that one of the main characters was a hockey player.  WoHoo!  Plus he lands up coaching a girls' team. I loved it.  I played girls hockey at 14 years of age so I could relate. I enjoyed this part as I could remember my time as a goalie.
  • I received this book from Revell to review.

The Apple Creek Announcement- vol. 3 of Creektown Discoveries

Apple Creek, Ohio.  A place I want to visit.  A wonderful place to call home.

This is Book 3 of the series.  You could read by itself but I recommend reading all three in order.  You are re-introduced to Lois and Orley.  They are a wonderful Amish couple who run the antique store.  Their love for each other spills over onto others.

Andrea had her life planned out.  Until she found out the circumstances of her birth.  This news confuses and overwhelms her.  Everything is not the way it seems.

I loved the book.  I was quite surprised by the ending.  You will be, too.

I received this book from Wanda Brunstetter's Clippity Clop Club to review.

Revell Reads- Deception

Madison was one tough cookie.  But her last case really got to her.  She couldn't forget how she felt.  The loss.  The sadness.   She is attempting to move  forward but her past has come back to haunt her.

There is more than one storyline throughout this book.  There is the personal side and the professional side.  They both merge together into a fast paced story that is difficult to put down.  Madison has been involved in Deception from the day she was born.  Now is the time to find out the truth.

Deception was a quick read for me.  I was entertained right to the end.

I received this from Revell to review.

Starting Over

Ada fears she is losing Wilma's friendship. She wants life to go on as normal. But it can't.  Wilma lost her husband and must find away to survive her loneliness and grief.  She is starting over.  A new normal.

Grief support groups are so important. It assists members of the family with compassion and understanding.  In Wilma's community, I assume that the Amish do not reach out to counseling agencies for this service. Wilma opened her home to other widows.  Without her knowing, this is a positive step in  dealing with her grief.

I love reading about this family.  They are supportive of each other.  They are there for each other in bad and in good times.

Can Wilma find any comfort through her grief?  Can Ada accept the changes she sees in Wilma?

Critical Alliance. Series: Rocky Mountain Courage, Book 3

MacKenzie made a bad choices years ago.  It cost her her family and reputation.  Now was the time to reconnect and attempt to correct her past mistakes.  But the CRITICAL ALLIANCE of the past prevents this from happening.

A fast pace story that had you on the edge of your seat.  Who was it?  Who was set to destroy everything that MacKenzie loved and touched?

It was interesting reading about drones and cyberattacks.  It is quite overwhelming to see what can so easily happen in today's world.  The "bad guys" are always one step ahead of us.

I received this book from Revell to review.

Misty M. Beller always writes a wonderful story.  It takes me to the mountains with the sights,  smells, and sounds.  I feel like I'm climbing that mountain with Lola.  I can see the Indian village and can imagine what it would be like living there.

Lola learns a lot about herself on this journey.  She discovers that things are not what they seem.  She opens her heart to new opportunities and yes, love.  Does White Owl have a place in her future?

Author: Misty M. Beller

Genre:Christian Historical Romance

This epic journey is her last hope to find her lost brother—the only family she has left.

When Lola Carson’s father died, his last words spoke of a half-brother she’d never known about. And now, to claim her own inheritance and come to terms with her father’s secret life, she must find this mysterious man—whose last known whereabouts are somewhere west of the wild Rocky Mountains. After hiring family friends to accompany her on the trek, she sets out for a wilderness few white women have ever seen. She doesn’t expect the majestic peaks to captivate her so, nor the half-dead brave they find on one of the slopes.

White Owl left his village and his broken heart behind when he set out for a fresh start. His newfound faith is the one anchor in his life. He’s desperate to learn more about the God he’s committed to follow and become an interpreter for the missionaries who led him to faith. But he barely starts his journey when a hunting accident nearly kills him. The woman who discovers him in the midst of his fevered delirium seems to be a gift from above.

But the more White Owl learns about Lola’s companions and her dangerous quest, the more he realizes his own calling is clear—to take her safely to her brother. The question is, will he have to sacrifice more than his heart to accomplish that goal?

From a USA Today bestselling author comes another epic journey through breathless landscapes and adventure so intense, lives will never be the same.

Crossfire: Series: Extreme Measures, Book 2

An action packed book that was difficult to put down.  I quickly turned page after page.  Julianna was a character with amazing strengths.  She attempted to keep hidden her one major weakness.  This weakness just might get her killed as well as her sister.

Clay met the FBI negotiator and couldn't stop thinking of her.  He, too, had a weakness that stopped him from commitment.

A crime that needed to be solved.  Julianna knew it was up to her to be the one to solve it.

I enjoyed this book as well as the first book in the series: Life Flight.  Great story.

I received this book to review from Revell.

BOOK EXCERPT

Into the Fog Excerpt 5

“Nah. I’ve stayed away from men since …” She didn’t know how to describe what she’d been through or why no man would want her, so she let the sentence hang. Her stint in Afghanistan had ended in tragedy, followed by months of rehab at Walter Reed. Then she had fought for her management spot in the good-old-boys network of a Phoenix bank. Relief had washed over her when her sisters called to announce MJ was the best of the three of them to move to Peach Blossom to help their mother operate her orchard business.

“Since what?” Kelsey’s blond ponytail slapped her prominent cheekbones when she swung her head toward MJ. Her striking green eyes bore into MJ as she waited for an answer.

“Now who’s sticking her nose where it doesn’t belong?” MJ interrupted the ensuing silence by apologizing. “That was rude. The truth is, I don’t have time for men either. My mom is showing signs of dementia, so I moved here to help handle her peach business, but I’m more of a gofer than a manager. It isn’t a brilliant use for my MBA, but it’s better than what I was doing.”

The Amish Quiltmaker's Unconventional Niece

I can't resist Jennifer Beckstrand's books.  She recently came to my State and I so wanted to meet her.  Unfortunately, I couldn't get there to let her know how much enjoyment she gives me with her books.

Mattie is a young but a determined Amish woman who was sent to Colorado as a punishment by her father.  No sooner than she gets there she finds herself in the thick of things!!!

All the characters in this book were a delight to read about.  Looking forward to another installment!

I received this ebook to review from the author.

Duty Calls at Goodwill House Book 3

What an enjoyable story about heros in WW2. Each character was well written and believable. I was especially interested as my family lived in England during this time.
Diane was my favorite. She was determined to make it in the Service. She was not going to fall in love with a pilot. She was not going to be deterred from her goals.

Life can throw you a curve ball. Diane found that out. Did you have your life all planned out? Did it work out? I can answer that for me. I would have not married my love of my life. I would not have had the career I had for 28 years. I wouldn't have retired at 55.

I received this ebook from Boldwood Books to give a review.

The Last Wedding- The Amish Bonnet Sisters

Cherish has been dreaming of her wedding for a very long time.  Until that day, she has much to worry about.  Will everything work out as she planned?

I was just introduced to this series in book 29.  But it was easy to catch on and enjoy the camaraderie of this family.  There is always something going on.

Cherish's Mom, Wilma, is afraid of letting Cherish go.  She is afraid of being alone. This is a common feeling when it is your last child.  Wilma also just lost her husband.  She needs the family to be there for her.  They understand what she is feeling and will make sure that she will get the love and attention she needs to go forward in her life.

Will the sisters find happiness?  I really hope Favor's situation changes.  I got real upset reading about her situation.  I just wanted to shake her husband and in-laws.  Wouldn't you?

I received this book from the author to review.
