The Christmas Blessing By Melody Carlson

Amelia found herself in a terrible predicament.  She knew what she had to do but it was at a cost. Could she do this for her son?  Would she regret her decision for the rest of her life?

As I read this story, I couldn't help to think about Jesus and the ultimate sacrifice he made for us. Jesus knew what he had to do to save us from our sins.

I read this quickly and enjoyed every page.  I was quite surprised by the ending.  It wasn't what I expected!

I have read a few of Melody Carlson's books and they were all great.  What a treat!  Her book "The Christmas Blessing" was a blessing to me.

I received this free to review.

ALL OF YOU BY SARAH MONZON

Picking up a book by an author you have never read can be daunting.  Will I like it?   Will it be a waste of time?

Or just maybe it could lead to a fantastic discovery of a new favorite author.  Fortunately for me this book was a delight.  I opened the page not knowing what to expect.  By the time I finished, I was looking to see what else Sarah Monzon has written.

I was thrilled that the leading man was Michael. He was far from perfect.  He needed to learn a valuable lesson before he could accept his circumstances and find love.  Thanks to his Mom.

Jack was not looking for romance after her previous disastrous relationship.  But thanks to her brother, love came walking into her garage.

I loved the throwback to Alice during World War II.  She was a brave and pretty daring woman.  You need someone like her in your side.

Great book.  Enjoyed the story.  I will be looking for more by this talented author.

I received this book free to review.

Five stars!

Terri Wangard- Wheresoever They May Be

Just finished, very difficult to put in words the impact of this book.  I'm going to sit here and let it soak in.  I read the last page and took a breath-WOW!  The book was way more intense than I expected.  It was a page turner.  Intense. Exciting. Sometimes jaw dropping!!!

I loved that it stayed real.  The book wasn't one where every thing turned out great.  It did give you hope.  You can survive.  You will grieve but GOD is there to help you pick up the pieces.

GOD promises Everlasting Life.  This promise carries Lily through her darkest days. She believes and is strengthened by this.  She is comforted by GOD'S PROMISE.

I loved the historical content and adored Lily, Frank, Joe And Susan.

I received this book for free.  I was happy to have the privilege to read and review this book

Whisper by Mark Batterson

I received this for free and thought I would attempt to read this book.  I never heard of Mark Batterson.  After reading this book, I'm sure I'll look for his other books.
Whisper....a good title to grab your attention.  It's about hearing GOD when HE is talking to you.  Yes, HE does talk to you but often we don't pay attention.  There were many notes I took while reading this.
1.  GOD enters by invitation only.  You have to invite him in.  He is ready when you are.

2. FAITH is taking the first step before GOD reveals the second one.  Sometimes you have to leap based on faith alone.

3.  GOD puts people in our lives to draw out our potential.  GOD has a plan for us.  We don't know (only GOD does) the significance of whom we meet and have contact with on a daily basis.   A meeting with one person can alter our whole lives.  Mark Batterson calls this the " human pinball".

4.  You are the answer to someone's else prayer.  This put things in perspective for me. A smile, a kind word, helping someone out......can make a major impact on someone.  At times, when I was working, I felt like what I was doing didn't really matter.  But later I was approached by previous clients and they told me that I did help them.  I asked one young man, please tell me what did I say?  Maybe I could use this piece of knowledge over And over again.  He said I listened.

GOD IS TALKING TO US.  We just have to listen.

The Return by Suzanne Woods Fisher

The Return- What was returned?  What was lost?  Could it be returned without any problems or changes?  Could it be returned without pain and conflict?  Could it really be returned at all?

This book is set in the l700's in an Amish Community.  It is the story of Anna and Bairn coming to America and starting a new life.  This book is the third book of the series.  It is about Tessa, their daughter, and the conflict with the Indians and in their community.

Tessa was young but she was in love with Hans.  Could he return the love that Tessa so desperately desired?

Hans loved Betsy with all his heart.  Was Betsy able to return his devotion after everything has happened?

Betsy longed to return to her home.  But could she really return? Could she forget the Indians that helped her in her journey?  Could she return and be the same?

Caleb knew he couldn't return to his mother's family.  But he could help Betsy return even if meant he lost someone so very special to him.

Hans was so angry and his need of revenge was strong.  Before he knew it, he was involved in a deadly situation.  His last gift to Betsy was to help Caleb return to his people.

Tessa did a terrible thing and quickly regretted it.  Was there anything that she could do to rectify the situation?  Could she really return what was lost?

I read all three books of this series and loved every minute of it.  It was very enjoyable and interesting to read.  I loved the historical content.  I was sad to see it end.

Five Stars!

ANY DREAM WILL DO by Debbie Macomber

My dream is that Debbie Macomber continues writing books for years to come.  Starting to read a book by Ms. Macomber is like going on a vacation.  You are excited to start the trip.  You have a great time while on the trip and sad when it is over.  This book was no exception.

Any Dream Will Do shares that you must always have dreams and to not give up on them.

Drew lost the love of his life and the mother of his children.  He never thought he could love again.  Would he risk all for this second chance of love?

Shay had risked before and lost.  Could she take the chance of opening her heart?

I will wait as patient as I can for the next book by Debbie Macomber.  Enjoyed the story.

Wanda Brunstetter's The Blessing

The Blessing is that Mrs. Brunstetter continues to write such delightful stories that I love.  It is so easy to like her characters.  How could you not love Heidi?  She suffers such heartbreak but continues to be faithful and trusts that GOD does have a plan for her.

Each character blesses others in some way (big or small).  They each might have an obstacle to conquer in their own lives but by giving to others they are blessed in return.

I read this very quickly.  I loved it.  I don't read Wanda Brunstetter's books.  I devour them until she released a new one.  Thank you for blessing my life with your talents.

With You Always by Jody Hedlund

This is a wonderful story of Elise and her determination to make a better life for her and her family.  I was concerned when she came upon misfortunes and cheered when she conquered her fears.  Elise thought she was just a plain, immigrant girl but she was so much more.

Thornton met Elise and couldn't get her off of his mind.  He knew she was someone special but he was so caught up with proving to his father he was worthy and the competition against his brother.  He almost lost a wonderful gift from GOD.

GOD was with Elise always.  She didn't realize it.  She fought against it.  She refused to believe it but GOD was right there.

The answers we often seek are sometimes right in front of us.  We get so caught up with everything around us that we need to just stop.  We need to stop- take a moment to reflect- pray to our Heavenly Father and the answer will come.  GOD is there to guide us every step of the way.

Elise and Thornton's story is an excellent example of this.   GOD was there and he provided.

Great book.  I loved the story and look forward to the next book in the series.  Thank you, Jody Hedlund, for giving me hours of enjoyment.

Heart On The Line by Karen Witemeyer

Amos and Grace didn't expect to find love any time soon.  Amos thought love was beyond his grasp.  Who would want to love him?  Grace was afraid to get close to anyone.  As long as she was in danger, she kept her distance from friends.  But what harm was there in striking up a friendship over the wires -  (Sounds like the internet and Facebook)?  But GOD had a plan for them..

Their paths crossed by wire and both of their lives changed.  Grace learned the valuable lesson of allowing others to help her with her struggles.  Amos took a risk and he discovered not only what he was capable of but the love of his life.

Valuable lesson- We need to believe that GOD is there every step of our way.  We are not alone.  He is protecting us and gives us strength in our moments of weakness.

Karen, this was such an enjoyable read.  I loved the story and was happy about the outcome.  I will always be eager for your new releases.

I took this book on a mini-vacation and enjoyed reading it while watching the waters of Lake Michigan.  It added to my rest and relaxation time.

Return to Huckleberry Hill

A lovely story about two people who were childhood friends and how they helped each other.  Fern is the friend we all need.  She is there for you and will tell it like it is.  Reuben needed her to learn some valuable lessons.

Their journey of discovery was a delight to read.   Three words came to me while reading this book- Loyalty, Pride and Forgiveness.  Fern was loyal to to Reuben.  She knew he  always looked out for her and had a warm, softer side.  Reuben allowed pride to blind him of what was important in his life.  Forgiveness was needed for Reuben to move on and to grab a hold of happiness.  I love to read anything by Jennifer Beckstrand.  I have no problem to RETURN TO HUCKLEBERRY HILL over and over again.

AMISH BRIDES

Three delightful stories of love lost and love found.  I enjoyed all three stories.

1.  The Reluctant Groom by Jennifer Beckstrand
I was excited to return to characters I have loved in her previous books.

Anna and Felty were up to it again.  Suvie wanted their help to find a groom.  Aaron, their grandson, needed help to begin living again.  Anna and Felty knew what it would take to bring the two of them together.

2.  Joshua's Bride by Molly Jenner
Joshua and Madeline had a date for their wedding.   But his parents were against it.  Would the wedding occur with their disapproval?  Neither gave up hope that they would change their minds.

3.  A Summer Wedding in Paradise by Amy Lillard
Aunt Reba needed a husband.  Her three nieces were in a mission.  They knew exactly who they had in mind - Abel.  But were Reba and Abel ready for what her nieces had in store?  Reba learned a valuable lesson.  She had to be true to herself and stop trying to be someone she's not.

All three of these stories were delightful and inspiring.  All three women in these stories had the family support they needed when times were difficult.  They had the love of GOD in their lives and they knew with prayer that they could survive anything.

Love, love, love this collection!

Behind The Scenes by Jen Turano

At first glance, the cover made me think of Debbie Reynolds and the wonderful characters she played in the movies.

Permilia was considered a wallflower.  I beg to differ.  She just didn't fit in with the society crowd.  She was told she was a wallflower and she believed it.  BEHIND THE SCENES she was bright, funny, inquisitive and very talented.  She was loving and thoughtful.

Her stepmother continuously told her that she was odd and ackward. I

Permilia was true to herself and Asher Rutherford was very interested.

This book has it all- romance, mystery, and humor.  I loved it.

The Farmer's Market Mishap by Wanda Brunstetter

I anticipated that I would love this book so I saved it for my vacation.  I read this while we drove home.  I guess you could say I devoured this book as the scenery flew by my window.

Elma was on her own after her sister married.  She was trying to keep her shop going, taking care of her home and being there for her pregnant sister.  At times, she felt overwhelmed and so lonely.  Was she destined to be a spinster?  She adopted a cat and a stray dog but she wanted so much more.

At times, Elma was so envious of her sister.   Elma prayed often and knew that GOD would bring her the answers.  She needed to be patient.

I loved that Elma didn't settle for second best. She could have.  Her sister tried to play matchmaker.  Elma stood firm.  Then a mishap happened at the farmer's market that changed her life.....was she willing to take a risk?

I loved this story.  It is so refreshing to read about families who love each other and will do what it takes to take care of them.  This story shows that at times we must make sacrifices for ones we love and that dreams can come true.

I always finish Ms. Brunstetter's books wanting more.  Thank you for giving me so much enjoyment especially today as I travelling down a boring highway.

The Ebb Ride by Beverly Lewis

This touching story is about Sallie, an Amish girl, who wants to travel the world beyond her Amish community.  Her family have been waiting patiently for her to join the Church but Sallie has other plans.

As you turn page after page, you are Sallie's growth.  She is a dutiful daughter but she comes to the realization of who GOD wants her to be.  It's not an easy decision.I

The Ebb Ride is the period between high and low tide.  After Sallie visited the ocean I see her right in the middle of the ebb tide.  She is trying to make the right decision.  With prayer and much needed time, the decision was very clear to her.

I loved this book.  I was quite surprised by the ending.  Thank you, Beverly Lewis.  Delightful journey to Cape May.

Trusting Grace by Maggie Brendan

I completed this book in just a couple of days-eager for Grace to find love and happiness!  Grace Bidwell is a woman of kindness, integrity and tenderness.  She is dedicated to get father and her friends.  Life hasn't worked out as she planned and she feels that her chance for happiness has slipped by.

But.... Robert Frazier comes to town looking for job.  He is employed by Grace but he found much more.

I cheered when the bad guy was defeated and was delighted when Grace and Robert discovered that life doesn't always turn out the way you planned.

Trusting Grace was a wonderful book to escape in.....trust me.....you'll love it!!

FOR LOVE AND HONOR BY JODY HEDLUND

There hasn't been one Jody Hedlund's book that I haven't loved.  She never disappoints.   I never would have known this was a juvenile book without checking first.

This book centers around Bennet and Sabine.  They each have a cross to bear.  Bennet needs to save his ancestral home and belongings.  Sabine has a secret that she cannot share with anyone.

With a little scheming, Bennet and Sabine are brought together. I enjoyed their banter back and forth and was surprised in the twist of the story at the end.

Sabine was caged like a bird.  In order to be set free, she had to be open and allow herself to trust in the Lord that all will be ok.

Bennet learned that belongings and treasures really didn't make you rich.  His relationship with his loved ones was what mattered.

Great story for a senior like me as well as the audience it was written for.

Once again, Ms. Hedlund entertained me with her excellent writing skills.

A Spring of Weddings

A short and sweet collection of unexpected love:  One story is of a soon to be daughter-in-law and her fiance's mother and the other is about a couple doing a favor for their friends.
June is usually the time for weddings but in this collection Spring is the time for love.  I loved both stories and quickly Was involved in the storyline.

A Proxy Wedding - Carly wasn't too thrilled to go on a car trip with a stranger.  But this car trip changed her life.

Hope Beyond Savannah-  Lily adored her fiance.  But his mother was hard to get a long with.  Will the marriage be called off?  I loved that this story involved a family from Samoa.

Great read for the Spring..the time for renewal....where things come to life again.  Enjoyed every moment.  I will recommend this collection...

Treasured Grace by Tracie Peterson

Treasured Grace by Tracie Peterson

When is the next book coming out?  I will be first in line for that one.  This story swept me up on the very first page.  Grace thought of others more than for herself.  She made decisions based on her head than her heart.  She paid the consequences for sacrificing her happiness.

Grace and her sisters were traveling West for a new life.  They got more than they bargained for.

The definition of GRACE in the dictionary is "do honor or credit to (someone or something) by one's presence."  This describes Grace perfectly.  She was a joy to know - a sister I would have Treasured to have.

 Five stars.  Loved it!

Witch by Denise Weimer

Witch

Whew!  It was wonderful!  Great story.  A meaningful message.

This book is the third of the series called Restoration.  I am so happy that I read book one and two.  It gave me the opportunity to see Jennifer and Michael's growth as they were fully restored.  They both carried such a heavy load and this created difficulty for their relationship to develop.

GOD brought the two together.  He knew their hurts and struggles.  But GOD had a plan for them. GOD is a waster of nothing.  GOD knew it was a matter of time that when they turned to him that all of their pain, sorrow and loss would vanish.

GOD is the RESTORER.  He has the power to cleanse our souls when we give our lives to him.  GOD is there to pick us up when we fall, to hold us when we are hurt  and to strengthen us when we are weak.

GOD was there for Jennifer.  She only had to open her heart to his WORD and she was on the path to recovery.  It took Michael a little more time but when they embraced the love of GOD, healing took place and their love could flourish.

I loved this book as well as the whole series.  It was thought provoking and made me want to move to that community

On a sidenote, my stepdaughter graduated in April 2016 with her Master's in Historic Preservation.  My interest to read this was peaked when I saw that it was based on Jennifer restoring historic properties.

Lovely book.  Five stars.

Is she dead?

STILL LIFE BY DANI PETTREY

What an ending!  I never would have guessed the outcome.  I was totally surprised.  This genre isn't one I normally pick up.  I was ready for a change as I seem to read the same type of book over and over.

Avery has a lot on her shoulders.  She carries the shame of her past.  She also feels responsible for her friend, Skylar.

It was enjoyable and so suspenseful.  I quickly turned page after page until the ending.

Will Avery learn to forgive herself?

Will Parker allow himself to love again?

Will Skylar be found?

Who is responsible?

Dani Pettrey has all the answers.  I loved the suspense and enjoyed this book.

This is one book that makes you eager for the ending so the mystery is wrapped up but sad when it was over.

Great book!

With the help of her young friends, Madeline discovers her old adversary is gaining a following in Rockland! What’s a girl to do?

But her new position also gives her opportunities to observe, and what she sees sets more than one new investigation in motion. What does her old suitor, Delbert Jackson, know? Why is Mr. Merton giving important papers to that scoundrel, Vernon Smythe, and whatever happened to poor Abigail Cooper?

Add to these intriguing questions Henry Hardwick’s continued attentions, Edith’s newfound devotion to the temperance movement and Madeline’s determination to find her a more reliable suitor, and strange behavior from her Aunt Louisa and things heat up as summer fades from Rockland.

Her dear friend, Russell, busy with an important project at work, finds himself unable to help keep her out of trouble and away from danger. Is Madeline going too far? Will her meddling get her in serious trouble this time, will it destroy her reputation irreparably, or will she rid Rockland of a scoundrel once and for all?

Amish Weddings by Leslie Gould

This is Book 3 of the Neighbors of Lancaster County Series.  It is about 2 sisters- Lila and Rose.  They both have their lives planned but that was before Lila had an accident and Rose met Trevor.

Lila and Rose suffered in silence.  They didn't share their thoughts and concerns with anyone.  Rose made a mistake that could have cost her dearly.  Lila was ready to give up her chance of happiness because of her fears.

They both had lessons to learn before they could be truly happy.  Prayer is a necessity.  He is always listening.  It is important to communicate with your loved ones.  They are there for support and to lean on when you are weak.  Trusting the Lord that he is there for you in good times and bad.  Things don't always goes as planned but God does have a plan and purpose for all.

Lila and Rose came to this after many sleepless nights and troublesome days.

Amish Cooking Class
THE SEEKERS

BY Wanda Brunstetter

What is not to love about Wanda's books?  I am always eager to start a new book by Wanda Brunstetter.  It is so easy to be caught up into her books and finish it within a few days.  That is why I took my time in starting this delightful story of Heidi Troyer and her cooking class.  I knew that I wouldn't be able to put it down until the very last page.

Heidi not only taught her students how to cook but to learn that  God has a plan for each one of us.  Each student has an obstacle to overcome but God was right there beside them paving the way for better days ahead.

I loved this book and am looking forward to any future sequels.  Ms. Brunstetter hit it out of the park with The Seekers.  I highly recommend this to read.  I have never been disappointed by anything she has written.

Amish Wanderer by LauraV. Hilton

Amish Wanderer by Laura V. Hilton

I completed this book with difficulty.  I felt so sad for the main character, Bethany Weiss.  I so wanted to give her a hug and let her know that ALL IS FORGIVEN and that she is loved by God.

To feel this strongly is due to the writing skills of Ms. Hilton.  My feelings for Bethany were strong.  She needed to learn that she can be loved by just being Bethany.  It wasn't easy for her to learn.  So many people don't know how to let go of their pasts and the pain continues to cause such grief.

Silas Beiler found him himself in Jonesport, Missouri as he wandered from town to town to escape his childhood shame.  He couldn't stay there long as he didn't want to risk his secret coming out and falling for Bethany.  Bethany saw Silas as a way to escape her shameful secrets.

Both had to learn that their location couldn't and would not take away these feelings.  When they fInally put their faith and love on God, healing took place.

This  book dealt with very serious issues.

Four stars.
Laura V. Hilton
Amish fiction lovers responded positively and immediately to Laura V. Hilton’s debut novel, Patchwork Dreams, when she burst on the scene in 2009 with her unique series, The Amish of Seymour, set in the tiny town of Seymour, in Webster County, Missouri. Fans of the genre immediately recognized Hilton’s insider knowledge, not only of the Webster County community, but Amish culture in general. Her natural speech and writing patterns, she says, are uniquely “Amish,” acquired from her Amish maternal grandparents. The Amish of Seymour, includes Patchwork Dreams, A Harvest of Hearts, and Promised to Another. Her second series, The Amish of Webster County, is comprised of Healing Love, Surrendered Love, and Awakened Love. A stand-alone title, A White Christmas in Webster County, was released in September 2014. The Amish of Jamesport includes The Snow Globe,The Postcard and The Birdhouse. In spring 2016 she released The Amish Firefighter with the setting in Jamesport, MO, the same as for The Amish Wanderer.

The Newcomer by Suzanne Woods Fisher

This book is set in the 1700's where living on the Frontier is dangerous and so difficult.  This is the second book of An Amish Beginnings Series.  The book is about Anna and her journey in the new world.

I loved the story but was getting extremely nervous about the outcome.  I kept turning the page with high hopes it would turn out the way I wanted.

It was a great read and I highly anticipated the next book -The Return.

My ancestors immigrated to America in a much grander scale than Anna and the members of the Church of Ixheim.  My family had the dream of better jobs and the opportunity to prosper.  Anna had the same dream.

This book explored the theme of coming to terms with your faith and finding inner peace.  This relates as much today as it did in the 1770s.

Five stars!  You must pick it up and read this.

Two Suitors for Anna by Molly Jebber

I have been a fan of Amish Fiction for awhile but never heard of Molly Jebber until just recently.  Her book about Anna and the choice she must make is wonderful,  I had no problem getting caught up in the story.  It is easy to do what is comfortable but sometimes we have to step outside the box.  Anna had to do just that.

Anna expected life to go on as normal in Berlin, Ohio.  She didn't think that anything would change once she married Noah.  But Noah had a surprise for her....Anna knew that the decision she must make would change the rest of her life.

I loved this story as it unfolds.  Anna was never alone.  She had her faith to guide her.  Her Mother and sisters were there to support what ever decision she made.  Her friend, Grace, was always available to share her thoughts with.  Anna needed them all.

I always feel that I have gone on a vacation when I read a story about the Amish.  It takes me to a happy place and makes me envious of the loyalty and the love of family that exists in their community.  Anna has a close relationship with her sisters and her mother.  Could she leave them?

Will Anna find the happiness she longs for with Noah or with Daniel?  I knew who I would pick.

I received this book free to review.

Never Forget

Today is the release date of this delightful story written by one of my favorite authors.  I have recommended all of Jody Hedlund's books to friends and family members and I won't hesitate to recommend this one, too!

Due to the holidays, I didn't get started as fast as I wanted to.  I knew that once I cracked open the cover, I wouldn't put it down until I was finished.  I quickly read through this book as well.

The main characters are Abbie and Nathaniel.  Abbie made some very poor decisions that she would regret later.  Her decisions were always made with good intentions.  She loved her grandfather and tried to help him any way she could. She must come up with a plan to keep the lighthouse and stay on Rose Island.

Nathaniel was lost and didn't know it until he was washed ashore the island.  This is when he really knew where he belonged.

Abbie and Nathaniel renewed their faith and found God's love and the light that would transform their lives.  This light was brighter than the light that shines from the lighthouse.

You won't be disappointed reading this.  This is the last book I completed in 2016.  What a great way to end the year.

We all make mistakes.  Sometimes our mistakes seem unforgivable.  We are forgiven and this allows us to start anew.  The past is the past and today is a new day.  Great message to start this new year!
